Natural Infertility Remedies - Ovulation and Sperms

Natural Infertility Remedies

It is easy to understand why it is so important to know the exact time of ovulation because having a lot of sex during the ovulation time greatly increases your chance of success.

It is scientifically proven now that in order to achieve a healthy viable pregnancy you need freshly released eggs and sperm.

So let me explain.

The sperm's life span is about three days. Sperm is considered to be freshly released in the 1st and maybe the 2nd day. On the third day sperm becomes old and potentially defective. Even if old sperm fertilizes the egg, the pregnancy is likely to abort in early stages (often it appears as a heavy period, heavier than usual).

What should you do to avoid that?

In order to avoid fertilization with old, defective sperm you should avoid sex 3-4 days before the ovulation, then start having frequent intercourse the day before ovulation and at the time of ovulation. After ovulation you should abstain for 1-2 days again - to avoid an old egg.

For example, if your ovulation is on day 14, you should:
  • abstain on day 11-12 (to avoid old sperm)
  • have frequent intercourse on day 13 and 14
  • abstain again on day 15 (to avoid old egg)
This scheme will ensure fertilization occurs with a fresh egg and sperm and avoids fertilization with old eggs and sperm, which often results in early miscarriage.

HOW MEN CAN HELP

At the time of ovulation, it is important to deliver the maximum number of healthy sperm. To increase your chance of falling pregnant, your partner should build up their sperm count prior to ovulation time.

If you want to build your sperm count to maximum, it is recommended to have abstinence of at least 3-4 days. Any longer than this and you risk sperm aging prior to ejaculation.

A man can also build up the amount of sperm that is ejaculated during intercourse by having oral sex of some kind without ejaculating (being brought to the point of ejaculation but stopping short). You may do this two or three times before actual intercourse over a period of one hour to a few minutes before actual intercourse. This method builds up the amount of sperm to a much greater level than normal, so when ejaculation occurs more sperm is released into the vagina.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CYCLES ARE LONG (30 DAYS AND LONGER)

If your cycles are 30-35 days, you ovulate much later than day 14 in a 28-day cycle. This means that your egg is aging inside before it even gets released. You still can get pregnant with this old egg, but the chances of carrying the pregnancy to the end is not great.

Women with long cycles have miscarriages more often than women with normal or shorter cycles. Often, a woman does not even know that she had a miscarriage. It just appears like a heavy or delayed period.

What Should You Do If This Is Your Problem

If your ovulation occurs later then 15th or 16th day of your cycle, don't try to conceive at all. The best time for ovulation is day 14 or earlier, when the chances of having a viable pregnancy are about 93%. If you ovulate on day 15 - 16 or later, the chances fall to 40%.

Late ovulation can be caused by a number of factors:
  • wrong diet
  • weight problems (overweight or underweight)
  • illness (cold, any kind of infections, organ dysfunctions)
  • stress or any other kind of emotional problems
  • medications
  • having toxins in the body
  • shift work
  • sedentary lifestyle
  • eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia or binge eating)
  • depression
  • jet lag
  • insufficiency of vital vitamins and microelements in the body
  • hormonal problems
  • living in cold climate
In order to make your cycle shorter, try to improve your diet, take vitamins, exercise regularly, sleep better, relax and watch your general health.

Losing weight for obese women is the number one thing they should do to normalize their cycle - it could boil down to just a few kilos or a few pounds. It does not mean you have to go on a major diet; if you are a little overweight, just lose bit by bit until you fall pregnant.

And for the underweight women, they need to restore their weight (especially relevant for extreme dieters and anorexia patients).
